A private tour around Iceland's ring road

Today you'll have a private tour of the Golden Circle, visiting your first waterfall, Gullfoss, before heading to Geysir, a large geothermal vent which regularly shoots jets of water into the air. Later, you'll join a shared snowmobiling tour, which takes you to Langjökull Glacier for views across the surrounding mountains and volcanoes. Afterwards, your private driver will take you to your well-located hotel on the south coast.

Today, you'll take a small-group tour to Þórsmörk Nature Reserve, accessible only by Superjeep. You'll cross rivers and meander through bumpy lava fields before ending in an area surrounded by glaciers, luscious green vegetation and mountains. Here, you'll have the opportunity to go on a short hike, which offers views over the valley. After lunch with your local guide, you'll return to your hotel.

You'll spend the day exploring Iceland's south coast, visiting waterfalls and black-sand beaches and enjoying the mountainous coastline all the way.

Today, you'll explore the otherworldly southeast coast, including Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Later, you'll head out onto the glacier lagoon itself for a Zodiac boat ride to get you closer to its floating icebergs. This is a great way to explore the lagoon away from the crowds and learn more about the geology from your knowledgeable guide.

You'll leave Jökulsárlón today, and be driven around the fjordlands of the east coast. This is a scenic drive, with winding roads, steep mountains dropping into deep fjords, and tiny fishing villages scattered along the coastline. There are plenty of opportunities to explore along the way, or you can simply sit back and enjoy the scenery. Once you've checked into your hotel in Egilsstaðir you'll have access to the nearby Vok Baths to relax in the natural geothermal waters overlooking the lake.

Your private driver will take you to Lake Mývatn this morning in time to join an afternoon shared hiking tour. This gentle hike leads you across the volcanic wastelands surrounding Lake Mývatn, and up toward the Mývatn Nature Baths. The tour ends here with an opportunity to soak in the waters with a view of the lake. Your local guide will tell you more about the area's geology as you hike, talk to you about rural Icelandic culture and what it was like to grow up here and teach you a bit about local flora and fauna.

Continue your exploration of north Iceland with your private guide. Feel the spray of thundering Dettifoss Waterfall — the largest in Europe — and take in sweeping views of Ásbyrgi Canyon. Its curious horseshoe shape was said to have been created by Sleipnir, the Norse god Odin’s eight-legged horse. You’ll also have some time to explore the seaside town of Húsavík and soak in the geothermal waters of Geosea baths, overlooking Skjálfandi Bay below and the Arctic Circle on the horizon.

Leave the north today with your private driver-guide and head to Varmahlíð to embark on an hour-long horseback ride. En route, you can stop at Akureyri to explore Iceland's second-largest city. Continue south to Húsafell, where you'll be staying for the next two nights in the west of Iceland.

Today you'll head onto Langjökull Glacier on a shared tour, where you'll have the opportunity to head inside the glacier itself. Donning crampons, you'll walk through the startlingly blue ice of a manmade cave, visit its ice-carved chapel and learn about the history of the glacier from your guide.

Today, you'll embark on a privately guided tour of Snæfellsnes Peninsula, visiting the highlights of this 'Iceland-in-miniature'. You'll explore its volcanoes, coastline, and beaches before continuing onward to Reykjavík.

This morning, join a shared tour which takes you inside the dormant Þríhnúkagígur volcano. A footpath takes you out across moss-covered lava fields before you descend into the magma chamber. The rest of the day is at your leisure. We suggest simply wandering through the capital's central streets and along the waterfront to soak up the atmosphere of Iceland's capital.
