Nun Assisi Relais & Spa Museum

Nun Assisi Relais & Spa Museum

Assisi, Italy

Housed in a former nunnery, the Nun Assisi is located right at the top of Assisi, which offers a relaxing location far away from the crowds below in the heart of the city. Minimalist in style and furnished in the highest quality furnishings, the lounge area has fresh whitewashed walls, comfy sofas and vibrant modern art pieces as well as a bar where you can have an aperitivo after a day of sightseeing.

Breakfast and lunch can be served inside or out in the patio surrounded by fragrant lavender bushes. The hotel restaurant, Eat, serves high-end Umbrian fare and is located in an adjacent building.

Each of the 18 rooms are furnished in high-end materials which are in line with the hotel’s minimalistic feel. Although modern in style, some have original stone walls and wooden beams. Some of the suites are located over two levels.

The pride of the hotel is its luxury lower level spa, which is over 2,000 years old and propped up by pillars that date back to the 1st century AD.

OUR OPINION:

Rooms

Suites and deluxe categories are what make up the 18 rooms in the property. All rooms are different in shape due to the historical nature of the building but all are decorated in minimalist style with the highest quality materials. Although modern, rooms do have original features like stone floors, wooden beams and woven rugs. Some suites are spread out over two floors making them suitable for families or couples looking for more space.

Location

Located at the highest point in Assisi, far away from the crowds below, the Nun Assisi is around a five-minute walk downhill from shops, restaurants and bars and around a twenty-minute walk from St Francis Basilica, which is located at the far end of the city.

Food and drink

Nun bar serves up drinks in the main building both inside and outside in the garden surrounded by flowers. A hot and cold buffet breakfast is served here each morning.

In an adjacent building is the elegant Eat restaurant where you can enjoy evening dinner. Focus here is on contemporary Umbrian cuisine using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Advance booking is recommended.

Facilities and activities

Nestled in the upper gardens is a relaxing terrace where you will find sunloungers and a shower facility. On the lower levels of the main building is the hotel spa which is over 2,000 years old and offers four thermal pools of varying temperatures. Beauty and massage treatments are available for an additional supplement.
