In a quiet position, high on the hill overlooking Paihia and the ocean, Allegra House is in the heart of the Bay of Islands. It's just a five-minute walk downhill into the town and it's also close to the passenger ferry across to the historic town of Russell.

Its simple, elegant décor and friendly welcome make this a fantastic place to include in your trip to New Zealand. The whole property faces the ocean and all rooms open on to the decks, taking in the views and leading down to the gardens. All rooms have the use of the first-floor lounge and dining room where a continental breakfast is served.

OUR OPINION:

A great value option, with fantastic views over the Bay of Islands. Heinz and Brita are extremely friendly and welcoming hosts, who are more than happy to recommend and book excursions for guests.

Rooms

The guest suites are designed with modern furnishings, sunny seating areas and they share a common lounge on the first floor. The top floor suites have en suite bathrooms with showers and a super king size bed, whilst the downstairs Island Suite has a queen size bed and en suite shower room. The property's self-contained apartment is spacious and light, and comprises a bedroom with queen size bed, a bathroom, kitchen and dining area.

Location

It is just a five-minute walk downhill into the town, and it is also close to the passenger ferry across to the town of Paihia, where you can visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.

Food and drink

A delicious, extensive continental breakfast is included, served on your private balcony or in the dining room. A short walk away from the Allegra House is the town of Russell, or guests can take the ferry across to Paihia; both towns have some lovely restaurants to choose from, most notably the Duke of Marlborough in Russell, which was the first licensed pub in New Zealand.

Facilities and activities

Allegra House has its own bush area where guests can view many native New Zealand birds and trees, and a communal lounge area where you can converse with the hosts or other guests.
