Hacienda Pinsaquí

Hacienda Pinsaquí was built in 1790, and was originally a textile workshop employing 1,000 local weavers and spinners. This uniquely restored colonial hacienda was a home from home for General Simón Bolívar, who usually spent the night at Pinsaquí on his trips back and forth to Bogotá where he was negotiating the independence of much of South America.

The main structure of the hacienda was destroyed by an earthquake in 1867 and has now been restored and adapted with 16 large and comfortable rooms, with heavy ornate beds and fireplaces (please ask if you would like them lit if they haven't been already). Pinsaquí has a unique rustic atmosphere with long corridors, wide walls, antique candelabra and furniture, and large fireplaces.

We recommend you take warm clothes if you are staying here as it can be rather chilly inside the hacienda.
