Bishop's Gate Hotel
Built in 1899 as a Gentleman’s Club, the Bishop’s Gate Hotel still contains many original features of the building. The historic property has hosted numerous well-known guests in the past, including Yeats and Churchill. The hotel is situated in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter and contains a grand lobby with intricate crown moulding and an impressive 200 year old grand staircase.
While the original features have been lovingly restored, the sleek design of the hotel is modern. This is reflected in the 31 elegantly designed bedrooms that have small, historic touches such as antique phones and vintage wired clocks to resemble the historic nature of the property. The rooms have all amenities for a comfortable stay including tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary water, TVs, air-conditioning, hairdryers, and irons. The hotel is within walking distance to the promenade, offering a great place to walk in addition to the small fitness room onsite. The hotel has two dining options; the more casual Wig Lounge and upscale Gown Restaurant, which was awarded an AA Rosette Award.
