Mountain Biking Excursion
Mountain Biking Excursion , Peru
This incredibly scenic ride starts in the Andean highlands around Chinchero (3727m) and ends beside the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
You cycle amid traditional Andean communities where the way of life has changed very little since the Spanish arrived nearly 500 years ago.
The ride starts on a dirt road with sections of llama track and then progresses to pure llama track. This gives plenty of opportunities for those who wish to play on the more technical parts, while others can cruise through the easier lines.
During the ride you will have phenomenal views of the Urubamba mountain range including the Chicon glacier and the snow-capped peak of Mount Veronica (5682m).
Lunch is taken near the Moray ruins with the option of visiting these. After lunch, the journey continues to the town of Maras, famous in Incan times for the quality of its spies!! There will then be a fantastic descent to the pre-Incan Salineras (salt mines) and the valley floor.
The ride finishes with drinks on the banks of the Urubamba river.
You will be picked up from your hotel in the Sacred Valley of the Incas and returned at the end of the day. A full safety briefing is provided at the start of the day.
