Rooms

The 40 chalets are all spacious with light, modern decor and a nautical theme. All overlook the ocean with a good-size balcony or deck from which to enjoy the views. The 12 Ocean View Pool Chalets have their own private plunge pool and are slightly larger.

Location

Located on the northern tip of Mahé, CaranaBeach Hotel sits in a cove of golden sand.

Sitting almost alone in the cove, it feels quite private and secluded but is actually located next to the coastal road that runs around the north tip of the island. From here you can easily travel to Beau Vallon or the capital Victoria by taxi, hire car or even local bus for the equivalent of 20 pence per way.

The beach is beautiful, however there is no reef here so at some times of year the waves can be larger than other beaches on the island. It isn’t always possible to swim in the sea, but there's a beachfront swimming pool available.

Food and drink

Breakfast and dinner are served in the main restaurant, Lorizon, which sits in an elevated position above the beach with views out over the ocean. Regular themed evenings are available through the week such as Creole night, Asian night, or barbecues on the terrace.

Lunch and evening cocktails are served in a more casual spot right next to the beach and by the pool.

Families

The resort welcomes families and the Ocean View Chalets can accommodate an extra child alongside two adults. There's no children's club but the resort can offer babysitting with 24-hours' notice.

Facilities and activities

The hotel has a pool overlooking the beach and the ocean but other than that, the activities offered at the hotel are fairly minimal. Most guests take advantage of the opportunity to relax at the beach or use the hotel as a base from which to explore the island.

Local excursions

There are plenty of places to visit on the island and a variety of land- and water-based activities available, either locally or prebooked by your specialist. These include guided walks around the nature trails where you can experience the rich biodiversity of the Seychelles and wide-reaching panoramic views.

Diving

There isn’t a dive school at the hotel but staff will be happy to help you arrange something with local operators.

Spa Facilities

The Sens Spa occupies a serene spot in the heart of the property with two relaxing treatment rooms including a couples' treatment room. Locally sourced ingredients are used in the treatments and the property has created their own ‘Carana’ blends of essential oils for use in massages.
