The Boat House, Scotland

The Boat House

The UK

Spread over the two floors, the three double bedrooms are bright and individually styled, each featuring a super king-sized bed handmade in Scotland and modern conveniences nestled among its rustic decor.

Its spacious kitchen, complete with breakfast bar, is the heart of the house. It has room for relaxing as well as cooking, with an adjoining dining room with slate-topped table for eight people, direct access to the garden for outdoor dining and links to the intimate ‘snug’ room with its large leather sofa and wood-burning stove fireplace.

Personal in size and style, the cottage’s interior suits both couples and families.

OUR OPINION:

We think the setting of The Boat House is ideal, nestled in the foothills of the Cairngorm mountains yet only minutes from Aviemore. We love the stylish and comfortable interiors and think this is the perfect place to spend time relaxing in the Scottish outdoors.

Rooms

This private stay offers three room choices, each accommodating up to two adults with one travel cot for small children. On the ground floor is a fully accessible room with adjoining wet room. Upstairs and built under the eaves, the oldest bedroom features original architecture with slanted ceilings and an adjoining bathroom where you’ll find views to Milton Burn and the River Spey. The master bedroom is spacious and airy, with an en suite bathroom complete with freestanding bath and walk-in shower.

All rooms include super king-sized beds, Wi-Fi, Sonos sound system, a digital radio and USB bedside sockets.

Location

The Boat House stands alone in a seemingly remote setting and is ideal for a quiet, countryside retreat just one mile from Loch an Eilein and two miles from Aviemore. With views over the Cairngorms and the Monadhliaths, Rothiemurchus is renowned for its cultural heritage and houses one of the largest natural Caledonian Pine forests in Britain.

Food and drink

The open-plan kitchen is spacious and bright, with direct access to an adjoining snug room and dining room. It is well-stocked with all you will need to self-cater for the duration of your stay, including two fridges and a freezer, a Range cooker, dishwasher and pod-style coffee machine. There is plenty of space for food preparation, particularly with the breakfast bar, where additional seating and the cozy corner window seat help create a sociable communal area. The dining area opens onto a paved patio for outdoor dining, complete with a wood burning Indian Fire Bowl for cooler evenings.

Food can be purchased from the nearby farm shop and pre-ordering is available from local a supermarket. Alternatively, you can dine out at one of the pubs, cafés or restaurants found nearby in Aviemore.
