Built in 1921 as the Croatian branch of Austrian bank, Wiener Bank-verein, this heritage property on Zagreb’s pedestrian-only Jurišićeva Street opened as a hotel in 2018. Inside, you’ll find a wealth of original interiors, including wood paneling, decorative high ceilings, striking arched windows, and restored antique furniture. All of the 112 stylish rooms offer a mix of Art Deco and Art Nouveau design influences as well as parquet wooden flooring, chandeliers, dark walls, and wood accents. Amenities include a flat-screen TVs, air conditioning, minibars, and modern bathrooms with walk-in showers.
Elsewhere, there’s an elegant restaurant in the bank’s former lobby for menus showcasing northern and central Croatian cuisine, a café for coffee, tea, and pastries, and a bar that has earned a city-wide reputation for its inventive cocktails and wine selection. You’ll also find a small boutique selling local clothing and other handicrafts, a well-equipped fitness room with free weights and exercise machines, and a vault and safe in the basement with the bank’s original security door still in place.
For those who appreciate rich and decorative interiors and attentive service, this heritage hotel in the heart of Zagreb is a stylish choice. We especially love the original detailing, such as the basement vault turned lounge.
