Coopershill House Hotel

Sligo, Ireland

Coopershill House Hotel is set in a quiet and rural area, in a historic and charming country house. The family-run property has stayed within the O’Hara family for eight generations and offers an intimate stay to relax and rewind only 20 minutes from Sligo city.

The eight bedrooms vary in size and decor, but all match the relaxed feeling of the home and feature intricate crown molding, antique furniture, and countryside views. There are no TVs or radios in the bedrooms, attributing to the tranquil retreat style atmosphere of the property.

Locally sourced cuisine is a priority for the owners, with 90% of vegetables and fruits grown in their own garden and honey produced from their own bees. A spread of breakfast is served in the light and airy dining room and fine dining dinner is available with a four-course set menu.

Rooms

The small selection of rooms all vary in size, shape, and decor due to the nature of the historic house, built in 1774. While each is unique, the high quality of upkeep is apparent in all of the rooms. Each room features intricate crown molding, antique furniture, and lovely views overlooking the manicured estate. There are no TVs or radios in the rooms, contributing to an overall relaxing atmosphere in the house.

Location

Located a twenty-minute drive from the heart of Sligo, Coopershill House has the atmosphere of a remote country house yet is within easy access to the surrounding attractions. The estate is situated next to Ballysadare River and a quick drive will take you to the well-known Wild Atlantic Way.

Food and drink

As with the rest of the stay, dining options at Coopershill House are not standard hotel cuisine. The owners are committed to local, fresh ingredients to carefully create quality meals for guests. There is a large garden on site that provides 90% of ingredients, particularly vegetables and fruits. The owners also have a colony of bees which provide them with their own supply of honey. Breakfast is a combination of a widespread buffet and cooked-to-order menu options. While there is no formal restaurant on site, a set four-course fine dining dinner is available to guests.
