Located just ten minutes north of Kilkenny, Newpark Hotel sits in extensive grounds that offer a wide range of activities for families. The hotel offers a choice of dining options with creative, modern Irish dishes served in the stylish Gulliver’s Restaurant and more casual fare in the lively Scott’s Bar & Brasserie. For a more informal meal unwind in the outdoor, year-round, covered terrace equipped with barbecues in the summer and fire pits in the cooler months.

The Escape Health Club & Spa features a well-equipped gym as well as an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and outdoor Jacuzzi. In addition, this family-run hotel offers a variety of outdoor activities including walking paths that wind through the grounds, a children’s playground and a small animal farm.

Rooms

Like the rest of the hotel, the guest rooms are contemporary but elegant and inviting. All rooms feature views of the extensive grounds and offer an array of modern conveniences including complimentary Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV and 24-hour room service. Extra touches include in-room tea and coffee making facilities, heated, fog-resistant bathroom mirrors and underfloor heating in the bathrooms. Some Executive rooms have a balcony and one has an outdoor Jacuzzi.

Location

Set within parkland, the Newpark Hotel is a tranquil retreat located on the edge of medieval Kilkenny. The property is approximately a ten-minute drive or a half hour walk from the heart of town and the hotel staff can assist with arranging a taxi to the main attractions.

Food and drink

Scott’s Bar & Brasserie is a bustling restaurant furnished with dark woods and deep red banquettes and has a warm, welcoming ambience. For a more upscale dinner, Gulliver’s Restaurant has understated decor in muted tones and serves a modern Irish menu. The outdoor terrace offers casual dining with comfortable seating, plush throws, a retractable roof and fire pits and heaters.

Families

The Newpark Hotel caters well for families with young children. Children aged 4 to 12 can partake in the Krazy Kats Kids Club, which is open every weekend and over school breaks. Other activities include an outdoor playground with a zip-line, a go-kart track and a wildlife farm. Alternatively, children can search for fairies on the trail that winds through the grounds.

Facilities and activities

The Escape Health Club & Spa contains an indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room as well as an outdoor Jacuzzi that overlooks the hotel’s leafy grounds. The gym offers a diverse array of equipment and personal trainers are also on hand for individual sessions or a wide range of fitness classes. Alternatively, unwind with a spa treatment.
