An intimate boutique hotel in the heart of Skoura’s date palmeraie, Ksar el Kabbaba is set inside a restored historic kasbah. Inside the thick, sculpted mud-brick walls, the hotel fully embraces the region’s traditional style, including intricate tile work, boldly patterned fabrics, elaborately carved doorways, handmade wooden furniture, and beds surrounded by curtains. However, you’re not without modern amenities, including Wi-Fi, a spa, and pool.

The restaurant serves a classic menu of local dishes created from seasonal fruits and vegetables, mainly from the hotel’s own orchards and vegetable gardens. In nice weather, you can opt to eat on the rooftop terrace, which has views of nearby kasbahs and the feathery fronds of the surrounding palm trees.

OUR OPINION:

Traditional style and a warm welcome combine to make this a great base for exploring Skoura. We particularly like the pool for cooling off during the midday heat.

Rooms

Each of the 13 rooms and suites is individually decorated in theme with its name, which draws on local history and legends. However, they all reflect the traditional southern Moroccan style, with hand-tied rugs, cool tile floors, brightly patterned fabric, carved wooden furniture, and seating strewn with patterned cushions. Many of the larger rooms have four-poster beds swagged in lightweight curtains and the Riad suites have separate seating areas.

Location

This hotel is tucked in the heart of Skoura’s palmeraie, a sprawling thicket of palm trees that’s been acknowledged for its cultural importance by UNESCO. This hotel’s central location makes it an excellent base for exploring the city.
