Mount Cook Lakeside Retreat

Mount Cook Lakeside Retreat

Located on the shores of Lake Pukaki, Mount Cook Lakeside Retreat combines panoramic views, indulgent facilities and a meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of your stay. There is a spa tub overlooking the Lake and Mount Cook, a gym, massage room and sauna. You might wish to stay in just the Ashley Mackenzie Villa, or if visiting with friends or family, you might like to use the Pukaki homestead as well.

Your hosts are happy to take you to their extensive wine cellar to choose a bottle for your first dinner, which is served in your own private dining room. They have their own observatory which you can use to explore the dark-sky reserve, an area that has no light pollution.

This property has one two-bedroom villa overlooking the vibrant blue waters of Lake Pukaki. The self-contained property is for exclusive use and can accommodate eight people over four rooms, with a private chef to provide your dinner and breakfast.

Mount Cook Lakeside Retreat is situated just a 45-minute drive from Mount Cook Village and a 15-minute drive from the village of Twizel. The property is an excellent base for exploring the Mackenzie Basin, including Mount Cook, Twizel and Tekapo. We can easily arrange for you to be picked up from the property by helicopter for glacier flights and heli-hikes in the area.

Food and drink

Dinner and breakfast are included in your stay and prepared by your own private chef, who creates dishes using the on-site herb and produce garden. Canapés and drinks are on offer in the evening. Luke, the owner, can also provide you with a wine tasting from his personal cellar.

Facilities and activities

The lodge is located in the Aoraki International Dark Sky Reserve and guests can enjoy unadulterated views of the night sky with a personal astronomy evening using a state-of-the-art telescope.

Additionally, the light-filled spa, which is open to the lake and mountains, has a sauna, outdoor hot tub, workout room and massage room.
