Lakestone Lodge

Lakestone Lodge

Twizel, New Zealand

Mike and Anna have created this purpose-built, environmentally friendly lodge on the shores of Lake Pukaki to make the most of the views of the Mount Cook massif. The dramatic location, utter serenity and attention to detail make it a great base from which to explore one of the most scenic regions of New Zealand.

The six spacious guest rooms are bright, stylish and contemporary, while the en suite bathrooms feature a tub which is located under the window and offers views of the surrounding peaks and the starry night sky.

Breakfast is served in the main dining room or you can enjoy the fresh, local produce from the privacy of your room or courtyard. With 24 hours’ notice, picnic hampers can be prepared for use during days out, and in the evening, guests can dine from a daily-changing menu accompanied by fine New Zealand wines.

The extensive grounds around the lodge are teeming with native plants and wildlife but if you wish to venture further afield, complimentary bicycles are available to use on the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail and the purpose-built tracks around Lake Tekapo. There is also a helipad for excursions into the alpine peaks and glaciers.

OUR OPINION:

Lakestone Lodge is a fine example of New Zealand’s commitment to both sustainable tourism and environmental awareness. Add to this, the panoramic views and their locally produced cuisine provide an experience that is hard to forget.
