Rooms

There are nine room and suite categories for guests to choose from, all of which are well-proportioned with walk-in wardrobes and spacious en suite bathrooms. Views vary, with some rooms looking out over the harbor where the sun rises and others overlooking the yacht basin where the sun sets. Facilities in each room include a tea and espresso machine, minibar, iPod docking station, satellite TV, hair dryer, alarm clock and a safe.

Luxury and Table Mountain Luxury rooms are the smallest options, but still offer plenty of space and comfort, with large French windows offering views of the harbor or marina. Some can also be connected for groups or families. Superior rooms are slightly larger and feature their own balcony as well as a sofa bed for a child to sleep on. Rooftop Luxury and Rooftop Terrace rooms have beautiful far-reaching views and a spacious balcony or breakfast patio. There are also very spacious one, two or three bedroom suites, the larger of which are ideal for families. For the ultimate escape, the Penthouse Suite presents a luxury experience with its private outdoor Jacuzzi, daily canapés and complimentary port, sherry and cognac.

Location

The hotel offers easy access to the V&A Waterfront with its large range of shops and restaurants. The departure point for the ferry to Robben Island, as well as a variety of other marine excursions, is just a short walk away. Guests, particularly those with children, will be happy to discover that they are close to the Two Oceans Aquarium, which is one of the top attractions in Cape Town.

Food and drink

Signal Restaurant, overlooking the V&A Waterfront, uses local produce from farms and fishermen. The restaurant offers a buffet breakfast as well as freshly cooked hot options. In the evening, guests can choose between the seasonal tasting menu and à la carte dining. The Bascule Whisky, Wine & Cocktail Bar is as the name suggests — a great place for a tipple or two. The bar also offers a light tapas menu.

Families

Children are welcomed to the hotel with a gift and the chance to take part in a daily activity, such as African story time or gingerbread decorating. Coloring-in books, DVDs and Xboxes are available, and experienced babysitters can be arranged by the concierge. Many of the hotel's rooms can be connected to accommodate families, or feature additional bedrooms or sofa beds.

Honeymooners

Those looking to celebrate their honeymoon in style can be certain of a magical time at this hotel, and the staff can help with an additional special touch — from fresh flowers, a couples' massage or a romantic dinner for two. The Penthouse Suite also offers a Jacuzzi on its private terrace for the ultimate special touch.

Facilities and activities

Chauffeur transfers within a ten kilometer radius are offered by the hotel. There's a shower room for early arrivals or late departures, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi, use of the hot spa area, a 24-hour fitness suite, a library with local/international newspapers and complimentary evening port/sherry, an overnight shoe shine service and guest parking with 24-hour security.

Complimentary wine tasting for guests is hosted in the Signal Restaurant and features a selection of local wines; while regular whisky tastings are also held in the Bascule bar. Booking is essential for these popular activities.
