H10 Villa de la Reina

H10 Villa de la Reina

Madrid, Spain

With a convenient Gran Vía location and impressive interior design, the H10 Villa de la Reina offers a comfortable base right in the heart of Madrid. The large lobby has been elegantly styled with granite columns interspersed with Moorish lanterns and large ceramic urns filled with potted palms. Bookcases and mirrors line the walls and a bar area offers a relaxing spot to enjoy a drink or some light tapas.

A traditional wire-cage elevator flanked by the building’s original, early 20th-century, marble staircase takes you up to the 74 guest rooms. With high ceilings and large windows they retain the hotel's period charm but are decorated in a more contemporary style with subtle tonal accents and high quality linens. All feature modern, well-quipped bathrooms in a monochrome design, along with robes, slippers, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and coffee machines.

OUR OPINION:

Due to the historic nature of the building, some of the rooms here are a little on the small side, however, we find the convenient location, characterful design and high levels of service more than make up for this.

Rooms

Rooms retain the period character of the hotel in their high ceilings and traditional wainscoting but the decor is fresh and contemporary in shades of white and blue, with quirky, modern art, and large windows offering views either out onto the city or over the central courtyard. Additionally, some rooms have their own private terrace. All rooms offer flat-screen TVs, air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi and espresso machines. Bathrooms all have showers, with some featuring a separate bath, as well as a robe and slippers.

Location

Centrally located on the Gran Vía, the hotel is surrounded by restaurants and shops. It is also within walking distance of most of Madrid’s major sights. You can reach the Puerta del Sol in just over five minutes, and the Museo del Prado and El Retiro Park in about 15. The Palacio Real can also be reached on foot in about 20 minutes.

Food and drink

Breakfast is served in the Las Infantas breakfast room, designed to resemble a family-style kitchen with tiled floors, wood panels on the walls and illuminated displays of crockery. The buffet features a large array of items, including a gluten-free section and a daily chocolate and churros bar. Lighter fare and premium cocktails are served throughout the day in the elegant La Villa bar.
