Rongbuk Monastery & Everest Base Camp
The monastery is a pleasant place to visit but of course the major attraction is the stunning scenery all around, and the view of the world's highest mountain's north face.

The highest monastery in the world, at 4,980 meters, and adjacent to the northern base camp for Everest, Rongbuk Monastery offers simple dorms and shared, squat toilets (outside and one very unclean indoor toilet for cold mornings) for those who have made the trip across the rough terrain from Shegar.
You'll find any other travelers staying in the area enjoying tea or a meal in the friendly restaurant.
