Anantara Medjumbe Island Resort & Spa

Anantara Medjumbe Island Resort & Spa, Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique

Anantara Medjumbe Island is located above a long sandy beach on Medjumbe Island. Just one kilometer long and 500 meters wide Medjumbe is a quaint little island with old stone ruins and bustling with birdlife including the rare black heron.

There are twelve luxury chalets along the back of the beach that are peaceful and private, each with its own private plunge pool. Inside the chalets are comfortable and spacious and have air-conditioning, queen sized beds and en-suite bathroom. Each chalet has a spacious veranda and is between 10 and 20 meters from the beach.

The main lodge houses an airy dining room and activity center from where you can arrange dive, snorkel and fishing trips. Medjumbe is close to the St Lazarus Banks, an amazing reef system, and thus is ideal for keen snorkelers and divers. The nearby island of Quisanga is also not far and ideal for a day's expedition.

You can explore the island on which there is a very small fishing village where you often see fish out on racks to dry. There is a good amount of coral around the island and the snorkeling is wonderful.
