Tailor-make your Nile cruise

As one of the most relaxing and romantic ways to experience the monuments of ancient Egypt, a Nile cruise offers passengers the chance to travel between Luxor and Aswan in the comfort and elegance of a traditional Nile cruise ship.

The perception of what a Nile cruise is like has been shaped by popular movies and novels and chief amongst those perception-forming books and films would be Agatha Christie’s “Death on the Nile”.

We are, therefore, very fortunate indeed to have access to the lovingly-restored Steam Ship Sudan, the very vessel on which the book is based.

It's hard to pick a specific highlight of Nile cruising. I just love sitting for hours and just watching the fields, villages, birds and islands slip past.

Tailor-make a self-drive trip along the Great Ocean Road

Embark on one of the world's most scenic drives: The Great Ocean Road. As well as spectacular scenery this whole coastline is home to a huge variety of bird and wildlife.

The main stretch of the Great Ocean Road runs for 186 miles (300 km) from Torquay in the east, to Nelson in the west and is home to the world-famous Twelve Apostles and the Great Otway Rainforest.

With stunning coastlines, national parks and quaint fishing villages it is no wonder the Great Ocean Road is considered the top tourist experience in Australia's state of Victoria.

It provides visitors with everything they need for a memorable trip, from fabulous restaurants and great wines, to an abundance of wildlife and a relaxed pace of life.

The Great Ocean Road is home to my favourite property, The Cape Otway Environmental Centre, which is a great place to view native Australian wildlife in their natural habitats.

Tailor-make a trip to Antarctica

As remote as it gets, Antarctica used to be the preserve of only the hardiest of explorers. Now however you can go on a tailor-made Audley Antarctica trip to see some of the most beautiful and captivating scenery anywhere in the world.

Antarctica's harsh and majestic landscape provides the backdrop for a unique and unforgettable journey to this imposing continent.

Wildlife can be seen in abundance from penguins to birdlife and as the world's coldest and windiest continent any journey here will be challenging, but ultimately educational and enormously rewarding.

Enjoy time spent on one of the few expedition vessels that cruise these waters as you float past spectacular scenery, or partake in a few extra activities such as sea kayaking along the way to really get a feel for these magnificent lands.

My favourite part of a trip to Antarctica has to be sea kayaking around the icebergs and glaciers whilst penguins glide through the water next to my kayak. Simply unforgettable.

Tailor-make a trip to South Africa

With such a diversity of experiences on offer, it can be difficult to know where to start in South Africa.

Undertake the Grand Tour of South Africa though and you are able to combine a number of the country's highlights in one trip.

From the buzzing Metropolis of Cape Town to the Zulu heartlands in northern KwaZulu-Natal, this is a full, but immensely rewarding three week journey that allows you to get a real flavour of this diverse country in a relatively short period of time.

I first went to the Wild Coast a couple of years ago when it was, and still is, one of the best-kept secrets of South Africa.

Tailor-make your Arctic trip

For a couple of months during July and August the harsh, extreme weather conditions subside and allow travelers the opportunity to spend a little time exploring the magnificent Arctic region.

During this period of Arctic summer it is possible for temperatures to reach 18 degrees Celsius and delicate wildflowers are seen in abundance, creating a carpet of colour on a usually snow-covered landscape.

The Arctic is, of course, also home to the polar bear and summer in this majestic terrain is an excellent time to view these incredible creatures.

The magic of seeing a polar bear in its natural environment is a thrill beyond description, especially when set amongst the beauty of the flower-strewn tundra.

Tailor-make your trip down the ancient Silk Route

From Alexander the Great to Genghis Khan the mighty Silk Route has played host to an eclectic mix of people for over 2000 years.

A relatively untouched region of the world until recently, the Silk Route (or Silk Road as some prefer to call it) had proven quite difficult to access. The demise of the Soviet Union, however, has had a positive effect on this area of the world and the region has now opened its doors to tourism.

A typical journey to this area of the world is likely to incorporate the Central Asian countries of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan as well as China.

One of the most rewarding journeys I have done was along the Silk Route, opening my eyes to the lifestyles and landscapes of these remote but welcoming places

Tailor-make your Trans-Siberian railway journey

As one of the most prolific and vast journeys in the world, the Trans-Siberian Railway is a rail journey like no other spanning a quarter of the globe.

The diversity of this journey is comparable to none, from the grandeur of mighty Moscow to the unparalleled tranquility of Lake Baikal and further into the nomadic communities of Mongolia.

One thing to note about this epic journey is it's flexibility. It is essential to allow yourself enough time to stop and enjoy a number of the sights along the way in order make the most of travelling such a substantial distance, as well as avoiding the inevitable feeling of 'Cabin Fever'.

From the hustle and bustle of Beijing to the vast, peaceful Mongolian Steppe, travelling across these diverse countries by train really is a once in a lifetime experience.
