Visit Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique
Jump to:
The Quirimbas Archipelago is made up of 32 coral islands just off the coast of northern Mozambique.
Pristine and largely unknown, these islands are visited by only a handful of guests. Tangled green creepers tumble to the water from low coral cliffs and white sandy beaches are littered with shells.
There are butterflies, tropical flowers, monkeys and birds. Apart from the local fisherman paddling in dug-out canoes there are no people anywhere to be seen.
Marine wildlife of Quirimbas Archipelago
The turquoise waters are rich with coral and fish, so it's not surprising there is a marine sanctuary here. Ribbon eels, spotted sweetlips and yellow-banded snappers are some of the 375 fish species you might see. There are green and hawksbill turtles, humpback whales and the rare dugong.
Quirimbas is a place to be visited soon, before it is discovered by the rest of the world.
