Wheatleigh, whose design was based on a 16th-century Florentine palazzo, was completed in 1893 by Henry H. Cook, as a wedding present for his daughter.
With an award-winning breakfast, modern furnishings and unique décor, The Kemble Inn offers the perfect combination of history and contemporary style. Ideally located just a five minute walk from the center of Lenox, it is an excellent base to explore the town and also the neighboring Berkshire villages.
The inn itself is a newly renovated Gilded Age mansion, with 13 individual classically designed and well-appointed suite rooms, all with private baths, central air conditioning, 40 inch flat-screen TV’s, free Wi-Fi, iPod docking radios, hair dryers and Ralph Lauren Linen.
The onsite restaurant ‘Table Six’ is widely regarded as the best restaurant in Lenox — with a head chef who was a previous cook in the White House for the Clinton family — and a large veranda that offers stunning views of the nearby mountain ranges.
