A stylish base from which to explore the fjords, valleys, volcanoes, craters, waterfalls, and glaciers of Iceland’s west, Hotel Húsafell is surrounded by some of the country’s most photogenic countryside. Behind the wooden façade that blends into the landscape, there’s 48 welcoming rooms, all of which have soothing neutral hues, sleek Nordic furnishings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and paintings by Icelandic artist and sculptor, Páll Guðmundsson. Modern amenities include flat-screen TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee-making facilities, comfortable beds with separate duvets, and en suite bathrooms.
The hotel also offers a light-flooded restaurant for traditional Icelandic cuisine and panoramic views, a relaxed lounge bar for wines, craft beers, and cocktails, and a bistro for casual fare. Elsewhere, you’ll find two geothermal pools, two hot tubs, outdoor activities such as hiking, eco-walking and golf, and a wake-up call service in the winter when the northern lights are visible. The helpful staff will also advise on the nearby natural landscapes to explore, including the nearby Víðgelmir and Langjökull — Iceland’s largest lava cave and Europe's third largest glacier respectively.
We love the remote countryside setting of this peaceful boutique hotel in the tiny village of Húsafell. The seasonal menu that pulls focus on sophisticated Icelandic cuisine with fresh ingredients is a real highlight.
