The beautifully preserved noble residence of Ca’ Sagredo contains a wealth of original features that will delight art lovers and historians alike.

To the right of the reception, three cavernous stone arches lead the way to a dramatic, sweeping staircase decorated with towering frescoes and carved marble balustrades. Reaching the second ‘noble’ floor, it is impossible to forget that the property was once a palazzo as the space opens out into a frescoed receiving room complete with glass chandeliers and floor to ceiling windows that look out over the Grand Canal. From here, you can reach the elegantly furnished guest rooms.

OUR OPINION:

A wonderful boutique property, the Ca’ Sagredo boasts all the luxury of a grand hotel but on a much more intimate scale and really gives you a feeling of staying in a palazzo.

Rooms

The rooms at Ca’ Sagredo are sumptuously furnished in classic Venetian style with rich fabrics and ornate detailing while at the same time offering all modern comforts. Those looking for a Grand Canal view will not be disappointed, with options ranging from doubles through to junior and standard suites. The more modest rooms boast lovely views out across the classic red rooftops of the city or down to the charming little Campo Santa Sofia. There are also a number of spectacular heritage rooms on offer for those looking to experience the height of palatial luxury during their time in Venice. All rooms include air-conditioning and Wi-Fi.

Location

Overlooking the Grand Canal, opposite the Rialto market, Ca’ Sagredo is in an excellent position for exploring Venice. The property’s central Grand Canal water entrance is accessible by boat even at low tide and just to the side of the hotel there is a traghetto (gondola-style water bus). The Rialto Bridge is only a five-minute walk.

Food and drink

The wonderful L’Alcova restaurant boasts a sunny water terrace and charmingly furnished sitting rooms overlooking the Grand Canal where guests can enjoy breakfast and watch the hustle and bustle of the Rialto market across the water. There is an à la carte lunch and dinner menu on offer and Bar L’Incontro offers a selection of apéritifs and after dinner drinks in the evening.
