Amata Lanna

Amata Lanna

Chiang Mai, Thailand

This intimate, pretty boutique hotel has only a handful rooms, each of which has been lovingly decorated using traditional Thai décor, art and architecture. The fusion of traditional Thai design, including magnificent heavy hand-carved doors, and modern amenities such as plasma screen TVs works well to create a characterful city haven.

Most rooms look out across a charming courtyard with a relaxing pool as the centerpiece. You'll receive a warm and inviting welcome from the small number of staff who clearly enjoy where they work.

OUR OPINION:

A charming, family-run haven in the heart of Chiang Mai. Although the hotel doesn't have a great deal of facilities, it's in a brilliant location and its small size and friendly staff make you feel right at home.

Rooms

All of the rooms at the Amata Lanna have been designed to retain the traditions of Chiang Mai, incorporating a beautiful touch of Thai Lanna style that creates a real sense of authenticity. The rooms are all the same size, with the option of double or twin beds. However, the differences in the decoration and furnishings of each room, from the woodwork to the photographs placed upon the walls, gives each its own personality. Each room has a serene en suite bathroom with Jacuzzi, HDTV and individually-controlled air conditioning, as well as a safe, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Some rooms come with a view of the peaceful courtyard, whilst others look out over the city.

Location

The Amata Lanna is within easy reach of Chiang Mai’s city center and is only ten minutes from the airport. Situated next to a fairly busy road, the hotel's heavy wooden doors block out most of the noise, and the main city attractions are only a short walk away, including a local night market along the Mae Ping River.

Food and drink

Breakfast is provided at the Amata Lanna, but the hotel doesn't have an on site restaurant for lunch or dinner options. The staff, however, will be happy to point you toward some of the city’s best eateries and help with travel arrangements to get you there. Breakfast can be served by the poolside and is a simple buffet selection of fresh fruit and cereals. Alternatively, you can order eggs or a full English breakfast cooked just the way you like it. For drinks, head to the poolside bar, where you can relax in the sun or unwind in the evening with a refreshing beverage.

Families

Children of all ages are welcome at the Amata Lanna and extra beds or cribs can be provided in all of the rooms. There aren't many facilities for children, but the staff are happy to help organize local tours of Chiang Mai that are suitable for families.

Honeymooners

If you're wishing to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or honeymoon then the hotel can make sure your trip is a special one, with the staff always on-hand to help with any extra arrangements. Fresh roses and orchids can be scattered on your bed and in your Jacuzzi bath, or you may wish to enjoy a traditional Thai massage in the hotel spa.

Facilities and activities

Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, with further facilities including a swimming pool, spa and library. A laundry service, tour service and car rental service is also available.
