Avani Victoria Falls Resort
Avani Victoria Falls Resort, Victoria Falls, Zambia
The Avani Victoria Falls Resort is only a ten minute walk from the Victoria Falls. The resort is quite large with over 200 rooms that are simple but comfortable, arranged around a large lawn and extensive swimming pool. All the rooms have air-conditioning, TV, hair dryers, tea/coffee-making facilities, plus en suite bathrooms, with bath and shower.
While the corridors to the rooms are a little gloomy, the rooms themselves are jazzy and light, with vibrant African artwork and colors. The hotel itself, while large, has been cleverly designed with high ochre walls, pieces of African art, and well-polished smooth stone floors. It can provide a relaxing stay, but there is plenty going on if you wish to get involved, with traditional music and dancers performing in the evenings.
The location, close to the Falls, is the major selling point, as you can always hear them thundering in the distance, and sometimes even see the spray from the gardens. Guests can visit the Falls for free as many times as they like, and it is also possible to organize a whole host of other activities direct from the hotel.

Alternative places to stay nearby
Where possible, we like to offer a range of accommodation for each stop of your trip, chosen by our specialists as some of their favorite places to stay. To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can’t be bettered.
Experiences while staying here
The following activities are designed to give you the most authentic experiences of the area where you’re staying. We work with local guides, who use their knowledge and often a resident’s eye to show you the main sights and more out-of-the-way attractions. Our specialists can also suggest outdoor pursuits and activities, such as cooking classes, that will introduce you to the traditions of the area’s inhabitants.
You are taken by boat to the island on the edge of Victoria Falls and taken on a brief history tour before swimming across a channel, crossing a rocky outcrop and jumping into a rock pool.
The cruises are shaded and gently make their way upstream towards the National Park, usually accompanied by a brief talk about the river and its wildlife by your skipper.
Flying lower than a conventional aircraft, you will fly a complete circuit over the Falls in both directions, giving you spectacular views of the Falls.
