Awash with calming, neutral tones, the accommodation at Jumby Bay ranges from suites to villas to private residences, each offering views of the turquoise Caribbean Sea. The sophisticated decor is modern yet traditional, its high ceilings and soft palette embodying both nature and elegance. The suites come with king size beds and en suite bathrooms as standard and an outdoor garden shower, with higher category suites including a private outdoor pool. Villas range from two- to four-bedroom options, while the private residences can have up to nine bedrooms, each with a living area, kitchen and dining area and private pools. Wi-Fi and air-conditioning is found throughout the hotel and all accommodation.
Jumby Bay’s remote location as a private island means it is accessible only by boat, with no cars in sight, yet is a mere two miles off the northeast coast of Antigua. Guests can relax in the knowledge of the island’s privacy, and explore the tranquil atmosphere where it’s undisturbed land has encouraged sea turtle nesting sites.
Food and drink
There are plentiful options for dining at Jumby Bay, from the many on-site restaurants such as the fine-dining Estate House with its West Indies inspired cuisine, The Jumby Bay Veranda’s casual-chic small plates and cocktails, or the alfresco Pool Grille or Beach Shack. Bars range from the Colonial 1830 bar in the historic plantation house to the beachside Genny’s Bar. Guests in the private residences can enjoy dining in, indulging on fresh seafood and local produce under the care of a personal chef and butler.
Catering to families, Jumby Bay offers its very own children’s club, Jumby Explorers, as well as additional special events and activities. Families can enjoy bike rides, water sports, tennis, swimming and dancing, as well as educational activities, introducing children to the island’s natural surroundings and unique wildlife. The accommodation also offers a variety of family-friendly amenities such as cribs, baby skincare products, changing tables and en suite wireless baby monitors.
Facilities and activities
Between relaxing on the beach or poolside, guests can choose from a plethora of activities, including water sports, spa treatments, three shared pools, a fitness center, cycling, sailing and fishing, as well as nightly entertainment. Each guest room comes with in-room dining, a TV, iPod docking station and Wi-Fi.
Access to the island is only available via catamaran, so may be unsuitable for those with mobility issues.
Not only is Jumby Bay an opulent stay in a luscious tropical setting but its exclusive nature and remote access leaves you with a feeling of well-deserved indulgence.
