Algonquin Provincial Park

Pathways of the Algonquin 3 day kayak tour

Canoe and hike the old pathways of the Algonquin people to a remote lodge in Algonquin Provincial Park.

Follow the pathways of the Algonquin people as you canoe through the mist, spot wildlife, and hike into the wilderness in the northwest corner of Algonquin Provincial Park. This two-night tour is based at Algonquin Log Cabin on Surprise Lake, combining a scenic and peaceful location with knowledgeable guides and an intimate ambience. After arriving at the first entrance point in Algonquin Provincial Park you’ll meet the guides and fellow guests for the three to four hour 'walk in' which starts the adventure. Eventually you will arrive at the clear waters of Surprise Lake where a 20 ft (6 m) voyager canoe will be waiting for you to paddle about 30 minutes to your cabin.

The following day, you’ll take a leisurely morning hike to Lookout Bluff for views over some of the Algonquin lakes before returning to the lodge for lunch. You have free time in the afternoon to relax, canoe on the lake, swim, use the sauna or fish. In the later afternoon, you’ll paddle to one of the islands for a sunset bonfire and scrumptious evening meal prepared by one of the guides.

Rise and shine early on your last morning as it's time for a sunrise paddle. Be as silent as possible to allow the maximum chance to sneak up on any wildlife that might be around, particularly moose as they are known for taking early morning baths at this time. Arriving at another idyllic island, take in the stunning vistas for a while before returning to the lodge to spend the last few hours at leisure before departing.
