I grew up in a big Italian family where chaotic gatherings, homemade lasagna, quoting of the Godfather, and obsessions with Andrea Bocelli soon became the comforts of my childhood.
I felt myself yearning to be closer to my family history. Which led me to living and studying in the small southern town of Sorrento — a perfect central location for trips to Amalfi, Positano, and the crystal-clear turquoise waters of Capri. Here, I knew I could feel like a real Italian local even if in truth, I was more of a tourist. I could start my day with a cappuccino, greet the local fishermen, and eat at intimate restaurants that felt more like visiting my Nonna's house.
Whether it’s the history-filled cities or the peaceful coast, there is truly no other place in the world like Italy. As Sinatra did it his way, I’d love to help you do it yours.

Q&A with Carly

What’s the one thing you always pack?
I always pack a sketchbook or journal to document all the beautiful memories I’m making. It can be easy to get caught up in capturing every picture or video. But there is something special about sketching or journaling during your day that will be more meaningful to look back on.

What’s your most vivid travel moment?
One day while living in Italy, I was strolling around Naples and stumbled upon the longest pizza line I’d ever seen, measuring 1.8 km (1.15 miles), and the pizza was set up on wooden tables lining the streets. On top of witnessing this magnificence, for some reason I got picked out of the crowd for a news interview. With the cameras rolling and microphone to my face, in my broken Italian I tried to explain that I was a student just wondering around for the day, but was very excited for when we could dig in and eat the pizza. I often think about trying to find that footage.

Where would you love to travel next?
While visiting Lake Como recently, I was amazed by how easy it is to cross the border to Switzerland. I’ve recently picked up the hobby of snowboarding (while I don’t do it well) and I dream of the day I can do it with the breathtaking backdrop of the Swiss Alps.
