Rooms
There are only nine bungalows on Vahine island, each with a simple, authentically Polynesian style that made with local woods and materials. Despite their rustic and traditional feel, they do also offer modern comforts such as a king-sized bed, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, tea/coffee facilities and a safe. In the beach bungalows, you can relax in your hammock on your outdoor deck that overlooks the lagoon and the turquoise blue waters, or in the overwater bungalows you can hop right into the water from your deck for a snorkel.
Location
Vahine Island has a secluded location, 30 minutes by boat from Raiatea and just off the north eastern coral reef surrounding Taha’a. Motu Tu Vahine, (Island of Women) is a paradise, private island of 23 acres, in the middle of the turquoise lagoon of Tahaa, surrounded by white sand beaches.
Food and drink
This resort is a foodies paradise, renowned for its exquisite food. The chef prepares dishes with a mix of French Polynesian and Mediterranean flavors and thanks to the small size of the hotel is happy to cater to guests needs if something special is required (please let your specialist know in advance).
Families
Although this resort is largely aimed at couples looking for a romantic island getaway, the island feels very safe and is surrounded by shallow waters and the feedback we have received from clients with families has applauded the efforts of the staff to accommodate families.
Facilities and activities
For most guests, a visit to Vahine is all about the relaxation, but there's a range of free activities at your disposal, including the use of kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling equipment and outrigger canoes. There isn't a spa on the island, but you can arrange to have a massage on the terrace of your room.
