Whale shark excursion

You will be picked up and driven to the port for your small motorized boat trip. The whale shark is completely harmless to humans as it is a slow swimming filter feeder.

Being mostly pelagic, seasonal coastal aggregations occur at only very few places worldwide where it is possible to get a close look at the world's largest fish in its natural habitat. You now have the privilege of marveling at and swimming with these gentle giants in La Paz.

The tour departs at 8.30-9am and is three hours. It includes snorkeling gear (fins and mask) and wet-suit. The restrictions for swimming with whale sharks are firm and only one boat is allowed close to the shark at a time, and five snorkelers per whale shark, so although you may be out at sea for the three hours you will probably only be in the water with the whale shark for about 20 minutes. Depending if they are feeding or on the move they are fast so be prepared that it can often be quite difficult keeping up with them! At the end of the tour you will be driven back to your hotel.

Obviously these are wild animals so sightings are not 100% guaranteed but you do have an excellent chance of seeing them.
