Westwood Lodge is located in Glacier Country, just outside of Franz Josef. Guest accommodation is spread between the main wooden lodge and the separate coach house building. All rooms are tastefully decorated and have mountain or glacier views. The lodge’s communal areas are cozy with log fires and lots of space to relax and take in the surroundings. The hosts also have two well behaved, friendly labradoodle dogs to welcome you during your stay.
Accommodation is offered in the main lodge and separate coach house buildings. All rooms have patio doors that open out to a private deck area. There is a tasteful alpine feel throughout the lodge and all rooms are decorated accordingly.
Bathrooms are spacious. The lodge rooms have a bathtub and separate shower and benefit from garden and mountain views.
The coach house rooms are larger and housed in a stand-alone building. They all have a separate shower and benefit from mountain and glacier views from the deck.
Westwood lodge is a two minute drive, or 20 minute walk from Franz Josef Township, however the route is on the main highway so you may need a torch in the evening. There’s a wide choice of restaurants and bars in town that cater for every taste.
Nearby local attractions include glacier walks, heli-hikes and hot pools.
Breakfast is served in the lounge area and is a continental buffet. Hot dishes can be made to order for each guest.
The lodge has a small licensed bar so you can enjoy a drink or two in the evenings whilst relaxing by the fire.
For lunch and dinner, your hosts will happily recommend local restaurants in nearby Franz Josef town.
Children must be at least ten years old to stay at this property.
The lodge has a spacious lounge area and separate games room with a full size snooker table. Complimentary parking and Wi-Fi are available for all guests.

This is a 30 minute scenic flight that will take you high above the spectacular scenery of both Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, with views across to Mount Cook and Mount Tasman.

The Franz Josef and Fox glaciers are two of the fastest moving in the world, sometimes at a rate of up to 20m a year. This means that the terrain is ever-changing as crevasses close and new ones open so your guide leads you on an unplanned route which is a true adventure.
Heli Hike on Franz Josef Glacier
Join your crew at The Helicopter Line Officer, Main South Road to commence a heli hike tour. A scenic 10 minute helicopter flight takes you over Franz Josef Glacier to its icefall, where the helicopter lands and you start a two hour guided walk among its ice caves, pinnacles and seracs.
