Alex

USA Specialist

Growing up in Africa, Alex caught the travel bug early. As soon as he finished university he traveled the world for two years, before settling down in the UK as a ski specialist tour operator. While working there for 6 years, Alex traveled to the USA numerous times and is proud to say that he has skied all of the major ski resorts in North America.

Taking his extensive USA knowledge he made the move into luxury travel and started at Audley.

Alex has recently returned from a trip during which he explored more of the USA including South Dakota, Yellowstone, Teton National Park, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, and returned to some of his favorite areas of California such as Santa Monica, the beautiful Big Sur coastline and San Francisco.

He is now delighted to be part of a select number of specialists promoting his favorite part of the world.

Bison in Grand Teton National Park

I recommend visiting - Grand Teton National Park, US

With so many amazing destinations all over the USA it's really hard to choose just one. I have to say that Jackson in Wyoming is always going to be a place that I can keep on returning to however. Located between the Teton Mountains and Teton National Park, the scenery is truly breath-taking.

Jackson itself is a fun, arty mountain town with the friendliest locals I have ever met. Throw in the fact that it is only two hours from Yellowstone and you can see why I love it so much.

Martin & Mason Hotel, Deadwood

I recommend staying at - Martin & Mason Hotel, US

Medium

This beautiful hotel in downtown Deadwood has been lovingly restored to its former glory by owner and manager Melanie. It was originally a hotel in the beginnings of the town in the 1890s, and all of its period features have been retained.

Every room is slightly different and are all finished to a very high standard. The service that Melanie and her staff offer is so welcoming I really didn't want to leave.

I'll never forget when…

Taking a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon will be something that I remember for the rest of my life. I was fortunate enough to be given the 'co-pilot' seat up front, from where I had the best view of some of the most amazing scenery in the world.

The sheer scale of the canyon is hard to describe, flying over it in a helicopter really is the best way to see it all. The feeling I had when the ground below me dropped by a mile in a second as we flew out over the canyon for the first time, with views of the canyon walls all around me is something that I will remember forever.
