Rosie visiting Sulphur Mountain, Canada

Rosie

Canada Specialist

My love of learning about people, places, and cultures led me to study anthropology at university before spending four years teaching English in Vietnam, Thailand, and Australia.

Of all the places I’ve explored, Canada has left a lasting impression. I first fell in love with the country on a road trip through the Rocky Mountains, surrounded by dramatic peaks, turquoise lakes, and unique wildlife. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to travel across seven of Canada’s beautiful and diverse provinces and territories.

My highlights include spotting grizzly bears in British Columbia, dog sledding in the Yukon, whale watching in Québec, seeing the thundering Niagara Falls, enjoying fresh seafood in Nova Scotia, and watching icebergs drift along Newfoundland’s coastline.

After nearly four years creating bespoke Canadian vacations, I love drawing on my first-hand experiences to create unforgettable trips, sharing both the iconic sights and lesser-known experiences that make Canada so special.

Q&A with Rosie

Grizzly bears

What’s your most vivid travel moment?

One of my most vivid travel memories was on a grizzly bear tour in Toba Inlet. We were standing on a viewing platform, taking in the stunning scenery and watching salmon splash in the river below. Suddenly, a mother bear and her two cubs emerged from the bushes just a short distance away and wandered toward us. Our guide whispered that the younger cub was known as ‘Curious George.’ He stopped directly beneath the platform and looked up at us before scampering off to join his sister in the river. I'll never forget that moment looking in that curious little bear’s eyes.

What tips would you give for people who want to visit Canada?

My biggest tip for anyone visiting Canada is that if you're hoping to see some of the country's incredible wildlife, whether that's bears, whales, or other iconic species, book a guided wildlife tour. The beauty of wild animals is that they do exactly what they want, when they want, so having a knowledgeable guide who understands the area and the animals' behavior gives you the best chance of an unforgettable encounter. Wildlife spotting is often a mix of luck and timing, and you may be outside in any weather. I'd always recommend packing plenty of layers, waterproof clothing, and a good pair of binoculars.

Sea lion in Antarctica

Where would you love to travel next?

Antarctica is at the top of my travel wish list. As a huge wildlife lover, it would be incredible to see the vast colonies of penguins, as well as whales, seals, and seabirds. The landscapes look spectacular too, from towering icebergs to snow-covered mountains stretching as far as the eye can see. Antarctica is also the final continent on my bucket list, so visiting would be the ultimate adventure and a dream trip to tick off.
