Oskar

Japan Specialist

Japan has always held a special place in my heart. Even after having visited over 30 countries across five continents, I can confidently say that no place compares. Japan's unique blend of ancient traditions and cutting-edge innovation creates a destination that is both timeless and constantly evolving. From the vibrant streets of Tokyo to the serene temples of Kyoto, and the tropical beaches of Okinawa to the snowy peaks of Hokkaido, there's truly no place in the world as dynamic or diverse as Japan.

Whether you're looking to immerse yourself in rich cultural heritage, savor world-class cuisine, or experience breathtaking natural landscapes, Japan offers something for every traveler. I've had the privilege of visiting the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ multiple times, both personally and professionally. My goal is to help you discover the Japan that inspired me — whether it's your first trip or your fifth — and create a journey you'll never forget.

Q&A with Oskar

Takoyaki - Osaka Street Food

What tips would you give people who want to visit Japan?

Be adventurous with your food. I wasn't a huge seafood lover before visiting Japan, but the fresh, high-quality ingredients completely changed my mind. Definitely try Fugu (pufferfish) for a thrill and grab some Takoyaki (octopus balls) from a street vendor — they're a must. Japan's street food scene is world-class, and trying new flavors is one of the best ways to experience the culture.

Wagyu beef in Osaka

What's the best local dish you’ve tasted?

Kobe Wagyu beef. It's hands-down the best beef in the world — so tender and flavorful that it literally melts in your mouth. The quality is so pure that some people enjoy it raw at streetside stalls. I've never tasted anything that comes close to it. It’s a perfect example of Japan's dedication to craftmanship and flavor.

Hokkaido mountain view

Where would you love to travel next?

Hokkaido for skiing. Growing up in Maine, I've always loved winter sports, and Hokkaido has been at the top of my bucket list. The frigid Siberian winds mixing with the Pacific rainfall create some of the best powder snow in the world. Combine that with stunning mountain scenery and relaxing in a steaming onsen after a full day on the slopes, and it's truly a dream winter destination.
