I’ve been a voracious traveler since I was born. From a very young age, I’ve been fortunate to travel around the world and explore both world-famous cities and smaller towns in countries like Spain, Italy, the UK, Panama, Singapore, Thailand, and China. My affinity for Japan began because I was born in Tokyo and was raised to share my parents’ love for Japanese food and culture, so it’s always held a special place in my heart.
In my travels to Japan, I’ve learned how to throw ninja stars in Kyoto, gone onsen-hopping in the remote yet picturesque Kinosaki, stuffed myself with okonomiyaki and takoyaki in Osaka, carved my own sake cup in Inami, and so much more. No matter what your interests are or what your traveling comfort level is, Japan has something to make everyone fall in love with it.

Q&A with Stephanie
What’s your most vivid travel moment?
It would hands-down be seeing Japanese snow for the first time. I was in Kinosaki Onsen and woke up on my first full day to several inches of snow coming down. I spent the day walking around the beautiful town, hopping from one public onsen to another, dressed in my yukata and winter jacket. It was one of those moments where a picture wouldn’t be able to capture how stunning the scene was. The benefit of spending so much time in the onsens that day was that despite the snow, I didn’t feel cold at all.
Where would you love to travel next?
Morocco has been at the top of my list for a very long time. One of my high school teachers immigrated from there and the more he talked about home, the more I wanted to see it for myself. Everyone I know who’s traveled there raves about the incredible food and how beautiful it is.
Your best piece of travel advice?
Get to know the locals. Chatting to your tour guide, bartender, server, etc. is a great way to get the best food, shop, and hidden-gem recommendations. I’ve always found that asking locals about themselves and their favorite things to do or eat in their city is a beautiful way to connect with new people and learn something new about the place you’re traveling in.
