Set in a restored 16th-century palace, Hotel Calle Mayor is owned and run by a husband and wife team who have lovingly transformed it into a modern boutique hotel. The property is conveniently located in central Logroño in the heart of La Rioja and its combination of original features and contemporary interior design allow it to maintain its original character and yet seem stylishly urbane.

The 30 rooms are spacious, simple and comfortable with fresh, white decor accented by splashes of blue and green. All offer air conditioning, LCD TVs and free Wi-Fi and feature bathrooms with rainfall showers decorated with gray, blue and green Murano glass tiles to complement the original stone work.

A breakfast buffet is served each morning. Although there is no hotel restaurant, Logroño has an exceptional food culture with plenty of pintxos (Basque-style tapas) restaurants to sample some of the area’s food.

Located in the heart of La Rioja, Hotel Calle Mayor is a charming boutique hotel that offers warm and welcoming service. We love the proximity to the heart of the city’s best pintxos bars.

Rooms

Though decorated in a contemporary style with fresh whites, greens and blues, the rooms still maintain original features such as exposed wooden ceiling beams that recall their original character. The high ceilings and large windows combine with sleek, modern furniture to give a bright and airy impression, while the en suite bathrooms have rainfall showers and Murano glass tiles which complement the building’s original stonework. All rooms also have air conditioning, LCD TVs and free Wi-Fi.

Location

Logroño, the capital of La Rioja, is known for its food and wine culture and the hotel is surrounded by cafés and restaurants, many serving traditional pintxos. There are many excellent wineries within an easy drive and the town makes for an ideal base from which to explore the region.

Food and drink

Exposed stone walls and high ceilings lined by wooden beams give the breakfast room an atmospheric character. A buffet breakfast is served each morning with fresh fruit, juice and pastries, as well as eggs cooked to order. Although there is no on-site restaurant, the dozens of surrounding restaurants provide plentiful options for enjoying some of La Rioja’s finest cuisine.
