Port Howard Lodge

Port Howard, The Falkland Islands

Susan was born in Port Howard and as a young girl worked as a maid for the manager of the farm, dreaming of the day that she would own the grand old house. Having lived in England for 21 years she felt the need to return to the Islands, and when the opportunity to buy her former employer's house came up she jumped at it and brought Wayne back to the Falkland Islands with her.

Since then they have worked wonders bringing the lodge up to modern standards. During her time in the UK Susan worked in catering and this definitely shows in the wonderful food she produces. Wayne has taken to life on the islands like a fish to water and has not only become an expert 4x4 driver (an essential trade where there are few roads!) but has also developed an incredible knowledge of the flora and fauna.

A great addition to their staff has been Michael who will be able to take you to some of the best fishing spots in all the islands (12 lb fish are an almost daily occurrence). There is also a small museum with some fascinating remnants of the 1982 conflict.
