Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity of living and working in some very exciting destinations, including some of the Canary Islands, Jamica, Cabo Verde and Morocco.
My time in Morocco began unexpectedly but quickly became an incredible journey of discovery. I became an expert in navigating the labyrinthine souks of Marrakesh, relaxed in the serenity of palace pools, surfed Moroccan waves in Taghazout, trekked on camels into the golden sand dunes of the Saharan Desert like a true Amazigh nomad, and encountered the endangered Barbary monkeys local to the Ouzoud Waterfalls in the Atlas Mountains.
Morocco was a beautiful sensory awakening, and what started as an unexpected opportunity, ended in a deep connection with its culture, architecture, landscapes and history. But also sparked a lasting curiosity for more of the Middle East.

What’s your most vivid travel moment?
While living in Jamaica, I set out to find the very elusive nurse sharks that locals often spoke of. Armed with research and curiosity, I snorkeled through a nearby bay, encountering needlefish, lionfish, and even a graceful group of eagle rays — undoubtedly the most elegant creatures I’ve seen underwater so far. One afternoon, I spotted a reef shark in the distance. My heart raced, but I reminded myself of their gentle nature and took a moment to admire its beauty. Each time I left the water, having seen creatures big or small or even none at all, I felt the awe-inspiring and humbling nature of the ocean.
What’s the best local dish you’ve tasted?
Definitely msemen. A breakfast staple in Morocco. It’s a delicious cross between a flatbread and pancake, slightly flaky and crispy yet soft and chewy on the inside. It’s usually served with honey, cream cheese, or a medley of local jams, and best enjoyed with a fresh glass of orange juice. My latest trip to Morocco revealed the world of savory msemen, stuffed with lamb, beef or seasoned vegetables and served with a rich tomato based harira soup. If you like a sweet treat, try it with amlou, a sweet argan paste known as the Moroccan Nutella. A quick snack, breakfast or a sweet treat, it’s one of my most anticipated meals when I land in Morocco.
Where would you love to travel next?
There are countless destinations I still dream of exploring, but Japan sits firmly at the top of my list. I’ve long been captivated by how beautifully festivals today still reflect ancient traditions and sites, and how Japanese mythology and folklore are deeply woven into everyday life, especially through anime, which I grew up watching. It reminds me of my love for Egyptian mythology, where ancient stories still echo through architecture, rituals, and cultural identity. I love places where myth meets reality.
