Itinerary idea in detail

  • On arrival in Hanoi, drive by private transfer to your hotel. Meet veteran of the Vietnam War, Chuck Searcy, this afternoon. After returning to Vietnam in 1992, he is now Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. Usually after about two hours, you have time to ask questions and hear about his experiences.

  • Today, embark on a city tour with your driver and guide. Visit Ho Chi Minh's former home, the Temple of Literature (the first university in Hanoi) and perhaps the Fine Arts Museum which has a wonderful collection of art and sculpture. After lunch, you will be accompanied by Vietnam veteran Tam to visit sites relevant to the Vietnam War.

  • Today, you will be picked up by your private driver and guide and transferred to Thanh Hoa City, three hours south of the capital. Visit Ham Rong Bridge, which was fiercely defended by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War.

    Stay at Lam Kinh Hotel
  • Return to Hanoi early this morning in time for your lunchtime flight to Hue. You will be met and transferred to your hotel in the city on arrival. This afternoon, explore the Imperial Citadel with your guide and learn of its turbulent past and how it has withstood the test of time.

  • Today travel inland to the mountainous district of A Luoi. Along the journey visit Binh Dien and Bastogne Military Bases and stop off at the Ashau Valley and "Hamburger Hill".

    Stay at Do Thanh Hotel
  • Continue into the DMZ, stopping at places of military significance, including the former American military base of Khe Sanh, The Rockpile, Camp Carol, Dakrong suspension bridge, Tacon airfields, and Lang Vei Special Force Camp.

Stay at Saigon Dong Ha Hotel
  • This morning, visit the Mine Action Visitor Center before traveling back to Hue, via the DMZ and the Vinh Moc Tunnels.

  • This morning transfer via the picturesque Hai Van pass to Hoi An. En route, visit sites of military interest, including Camp Eagle, Lang Co beach, the grounds of the former US Consulate, and the Marble Mountains.

  • This full-day tour takes you to the rural town of Quang Ngai, located in an area of Vietnam that saw some of the heaviest fighting. Near the town is a memorial to the people of My Lai village, over 500 of whom were massacred in what was one of the War's most gruesome events.

  • After your flight to Ho Chi Minh City, you have the opportunity to gain insight into the secret maze of tunnels at Cu Chi used by the Viet Cong.

  • Today, enjoy a city tour that includes many of the city's key sites and iconic locations connected with the Vietnam War.

  • Spend the day exploring part of the Mekong Delta and its cottage industries by bicycle and private sampan boat.

  • Today you will be picked up by your driver and guide and taken to the airport for your onward flight.
