Set on a beautiful stretch of white sand beach, Breezes is a large resort hotel with a traditional local style, featuring touches of the area's Arabic influences throughout. The hotel sits in tropical gardens scattered with coconut trees, and is a popular choice with honeymooners, those returning from a safari and guests simply looking to relax on the renowned island of Zanzibar.
The friendly staff are always on hand to tensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable, and the emphasis here is placed on beach relaxation in the Zanzibari sun. There are, however, plenty of activities to keep you occupied during your stay, from water sports and tennis to the indulgent spa and peaceful pool.
Breezes has four categories of room: Standard, Deluxe, Suite and Family Villa. They're located in the gardens behind the beach and are tastefully decorated in ivory tones, with cotton throws, teak and Zanzibari carvings. All are air conditioned and have en suite bathrooms, with only the Family Villa featuring a cable TV.
The resort has a great location on Bwejuu Beach, a great slice of white sand on the east coast of Zanzibar.
There are several dining options to choose from. Salama serves breakfast buffets and three course dinners, alternating with evening buffets. Breakers is the place to go for lunch, specializing in fresh seafood, while the Tides is a private dining experience for two, in an exclusive location overlooking the Indian Ocean. There's also Sultan's Table, which serves gourmet cuisine using a blend of Swahili and Indian spices.
For a refreshing drink, you can head to the Safari Bar if you're looking for a romantic setting, the Dhow Bar, which is great for a refreshing cocktail next to the pool, the Baraza Bar for whiskies and liqueurs and the Chai Room for tea, coffee and cakes. The evenings often feature traditional live entertainment.
Please note that men must wear long trousers for dinner.
Honeymooners receive special touches such as a free bottle of wine, flowers and sundowners served in the room, and at certain times of the year, greatly discounted room rates.
Facilities include a large swimming pool, a fitness center, a tennis court and a marine activities center that offers kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing and pedalos. There's also a PADI dive center, offering diving and snorkeling equipment and tuition. Bikes can be hired to visit the local villages of Bwejuu, which is a traditional fishing village, and Paje.
For those looking to relax, the spa is ideal, offering a wide variety of facial, body, hand and foot treatments, as well as specialized massage techniques.
Internet access is available in the lobby and in all rooms for an additional charge.
Breezes supports the local fishing village of Bwejuu by employing many of the villagers and buying the fresh fish caught by the local fisherman.
