The Cecil Hotel, Alexandria, Egypt

Our rating: Medium

The Cecil Hotel is located in central Alexandria and boasts great views over the Eastern Harbour and Mediterranean Sea. The Cecil is an Alexandria institution and lists Durrel, Churchill and Noel Coward among its former guests. The hotel oozes colonial charm and while in need of some refurbishment, the rooms are comfortable and well appointed, and its excellent location enables guests to easily explore downtown Alexandria and the corniche.
