Set in the heart of Sorrento, the Hotel Antiche Mura is well located for exploring the town on foot. Winding side streets lined with shops, restaurants and bars are right on your doorstep.

A hotel steeped in history, it's named after the 16th-century walls that used to protect the city from the Saracens. Adjacent to the hotel is the Deep Valley of the Mills, which holds the ruins of an old water mill, now completely overgrown. The rooms are bright, simple and decorated with tasteful paintings on the walls.

OUR OPINION:

A fantastic boutique hotel just minutes from the main square, the Antiche Mura is full of history and character. The rooms are a little basic, but perfectly comfortable, and there's a lovely secluded garden and pool area.

Rooms

Rooms are simple and comfortable, with many featuring sun-lit balconies or terraces overlooking the valley or citrus garden below. While the rooms can be small, adjoining rooms can be requested for families. The Suites are naturally larger and have high ceilings, making them airy and light.

Location

Turn left out of the hotel and, in a few minutes, you are in the main square of Sorrento. From here, take the elevator down to the port to sunbathe, swim or find seaside restaurants. Alternatively, veer down the main shopping street or wind your way through cobbled alleyways in search of shady cafés and bars.

Food and drink

Hotel Antiche Mura has a breakfast room available to guests, which offers a buffet-style selection every morning. For lunch and dinner, guests can sample some of the city’s finest restaurants and bars that are just steps away.

Facilities and activities

The secluded swimming pool is hidden behind the hotel, in a charming garden planted with jasmine and citrus trees. It’s a little oasis away from the city, where you can stretch out on the sunloungers for most the day with a snack bar at your disposal.
