The Sumiyoshiya Ryokan is a traditional inn located centrally in Kanazawa, just around the corner from the Omicho Market.
The charming inn has been in the family for over six generations and they have pride in welcoming guests to their inn and create delicious traditional meals with fresh ingredients picked up daily from the market.
OUR OPINION:
A family run ryokan that makes you feel at home. The building will transport you to another time, with beautiful wood details throughout. As this is a very old ryokan, not all of the rooms have private en suites.

Rooms
The Sumiyoshiya has four room types, though we typically will only book three, as one does not have a shower room, though the property does have shared bathing facilities. The rooms are Japanese style, where you will sleep on futon mattresses. Please note, to access the upstairs rooms you will need to take the stairs which can be a bit steep as this is a traditional building.
Location
The Sumiyoshiya is just a 10- to 15-minute walk from the Kanazawa train station and right around the corner from the central Omicho Market. This location also has excellent access to the Kanazawa Castle gardens.
Food and drink
Breakfast and dinner will be included. Breakfast is a set course of a traditional Japanese or a Western-style food. Dinner is also typically included and will be a kaiseki with fresh ingredients which the owners pick up daily from the Omicho market.
Facilities and activities
Complimentary use of bicycles are included in a stay at Sumiyoshiya, which is a great way to get out and see more of the city of Kanazawa.
