John

Central Asia & Silk Route Specialist

John's love of travel began at an early age reading travel and adventure books. Shortly after completing his university degree he began a career in the travel industry which enabled him to work and also travel across countries that he found fascinating, including Russia and the trans-Mongolian railway.

Having been firmly bitten by the travel bug, he has since travelled along the Silk Road through China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, across northern and southern India and much of the Middle East.

When not working at Audley John is a keen chef of the recipes he's learnt on his travels.

John, thank you a thousand times over for an awesome trip!

Japan gate

Bryn M. traveled to Japan for 14 days in June 2015, organized by John

All in all, the vacation was amazing. Everything surpassed my wildest expectations, especially the food, and I must say that I was pretty sad to go home. We did everything and more, with not a moment wasted. I am extremely thankful to everyone who helped to make this trip happen, especially our specialist, John. John, thank you a thousand times over for an awesome trip! You're the best! I would definitely recommend Audley Travel for anyone looking to visit Japan — they won't let you down!
Errachidia Oasis, High Atlas Mountains

I recommend visiting - The Atlas Mountains, Morocco

One of my favorite destinations has to be Olkhon Island within Lake Baikal. Everything about this island is overwhelming, from its remoteness to the sheer scale of Lake Baikal around it. The scenery is breathtaking at every turn and the people are especially welcoming. Olkhon appeals to my love of remote scenery and a relaxed pace of life that can only be found in a place like this.

Riad Ilyaka, Marrakesh

I recommend staying at - Riad Ilyaka, Morocco

Medium

There’s wonderfully homely feel to Riad Ilayka in Marrakesh. When you close the entrance door to the hustle and bustle of the city you can feel the calm descend and it really is a little oasis of calm.

I'll never forget when…

I saw the sun setting on the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert for the first time. After years of reading about the Sahara and seeing it featured in television programes, I still didn’t feel prepared for the immensity and beauty of it.
