Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle

The British royal family is a resounding symbol of England and this private, full-day tour offers a fascinating insight into their remarkable lives and homes.

Your guide will meet you at your hotel for a day exploring the two main royal residences of the King. Buckingham Palace has been the official London residence of the monarch since 1837, when Queen Victoria became the first sovereign to live here. It’s now home to the reigning King Charles III.

Your visit today includes entry to the palace, where you can explore the 19 grand State Rooms used for official entertaining and ceremonies. The sumptuous rooms, with gilded ceilings and magnificent chandeliers, are lavishly furnished and contain some of the best artwork from the royal collection. Please note that your driver-guide won’t be able to accompany you inside Buckingham Palace, so this part of your tour will be self-guided, using a complementary multi-media guide.

After visiting Buckingham Palace, you'll drive out to Windsor Castle, located around an hour away, depending on traffic. The oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world, Windsor Castle, has been a popular residence for 39 monarchs over the last 900 years and remains an official residence of the British monarch today. Although the private apartments of the King are off limits to the public, you can view the State Apartments, including the Waterloo Chamber, named after the famous battle, St George’s Hall, with its coats of arms and dramatic hammer beam roof, and the awe-inspiring Grand Reception Room, with its gilded decor and grand chandeliers. Some of the Semi-State rooms, including the glorious Crimson Drawing Room, are accessible during the winter months.

En route back to London, your guide will divert via the historic green fields of Runnymede, where the Magna Carta was sealed over 800 years ago.

Lunch is at your own arrangement, but could be either in London or the charming town of Windsor.
