Rooms
Rooms at the Grand Hotel Majestic, while not overly modern, are furnished to a high standard in classic greens and reds with big shuttered windows. The higher category rooms and suites offer views out across the lake, while the rooms at the back overlook the steep green hillside. On the 6th floor, there’s a selection of split level junior suites, all with private terraces and space to accommodate extra beds for families. Some of the other room types have balconies, complete with a small table and chairs. All the rooms boast grand marble bathrooms, most of which have walk-in showers, although bathtubs are available on request.
Location
The Grand Hotel Majestic has beautiful views across the Borromean Gulf to Stresa and the Borromean Islands. It’s a ten minute walk to Pallanza, where you’ll find restaurants and the public ferry dock for exploring the lake. For private boat excursions, the hotel has its own jetty. In the other direction, a 20 minute walk along the lake road brings you to the botanic gardens at Villa Taranto.
Food and drink
The breakfast room and La Beola restaurant have large windows overlooking the lake. In the summer, tables are laid out on the lower terrace for alfresco dining. Breakfast is a buffet with a good selection of bread, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt, cold meats and cheeses as well as a small hot option. In the evenings, the restaurant offers an excellent menu of local dishes.
Facilities and activities
The hotel has an excellent range of facilities including a lakeside tennis court. The heated indoor pool has sliding windows that open onto the gardens overlooking the lake. For those who want to swim in the lake, there’s a small private beach with steps leading down into the water. There’s also a well-equipped fitness room and spa complete with a sauna and private treatment rooms.
