Albert Road has all the mod-cons you’d expect from a deluxe property and is located just a short distance from the CBD in South Melbourne,
This historic, boutique hotel is located in the heart of Melbourne and combines modern design and contemporary style with friendly and attentive service. Originally constructed as a grand sales room for well-known local tea merchants Griffiths Brothers, the Romanesque Revival building has high ceilings and ornate detailing, and was later used as a newspaper headquarters and a billiards hall.
This heritage is reflected throughout with subtle echoes of its past surfacing in the decor with memorabilia from the tea company or the Lindrum Billiards Hall on the walls, and one of the original tables in the billiards room. Rich woods, subdued lighting and leathers adorn the lobby and bar and guests are treated to a complimentary newspaper each day.
The 59 spacious rooms are understated but refined, with warm wood furnishings combined with classic polished floors and heavy woven carpets. Along with ample space and light, they offer all modern amenities and great attention to detail.
The hotel’s restaurant, felt, is an intimate setting and serves a menu of international dishes based on seasonal local produce. The bar also serves light snacks throughout the day, and the central location means there is a wide range of alternative dining options in the immediate area.

Deluxe rooms offer views over the Royal Botanic Gardens and all rooms receive a complimentary daily newspaper.
Hotel Lindrum is conveniently located on Flinders Street in central Melbourne close to the city’s shops, nightlife and dining options and within an easy walk of the vibrant Melbourne laneways. Federation Square is a ten-minute walk away, you can reach the Melbourne Cricket Ground on foot in 15 minutes and you can be on the beach in St Kilda with a 15-minute taxi ride.
Food and drink
Named after the felt lining of a billiards table, the felt restaurant serves sophisticated seasonal fare from an international menu. Breakfast includes artisan breads and bircher muesli as well as more substantial dishes such as avocado smash or cured trout. The dinner menu is designed for sharing with small, medium and large dishes made with local ingredients, but inspired from around the globe. Light snacks are also served in the Back Bar throughout the day.
There are two accessible accommodation rooms in the hotel with spacious living areas and bathrooms with wheel-in shower. Wheelchair access is possible throughout the hotel including the felt restaurant, Back Bar and The Australian Room.
A cosy property in a great location. The lack of views over the city is made up for by the richness of history that is reflected throughout the property and rooms.
