The Ocean Club

The Ocean Club

Nassau, The Bahamas

Nestled in the palm-flecked landscape of Paradise Island’s north shore is the grand Four Seasons Ocean Club, its low-rise buildings surrounded by Versailles-inspired lawns and gardens. Boasting three swimming pools, an 8-km (5-mile) stretch of natural beach, private golf course and a Balinese-style spa, the resort caters well for those looking to relax.

Room categories range from garden view rooms through to beachfront villas, and are individually styled, with private balconies or French doors with wooden shutters that open to the opal waters beyond. The three restaurants and bars cater for everything from Michelin-worthy cravings to a rustic seafood hankering, while the in-room dining service provides a variety of options, from picnics on the beach to dinner from the comfort of your own private terrace.

From this secluded spot among the palms, the vibrant city of Nassau is a 20-minute drive away.

OUR OPINION:

We love the exemplary hospitality here, which, on top the already impressive list of facilities and luxurious rooms and makes for a truly special experience. The daily champagne and strawberries at sunset are a very welcome treat.

Rooms

Options range from garden or ocean view rooms to villas and villa residences. Décor comes in two distinct styles: the traditional Bahamian elegance of hardwood floors and muted, neutral tones, or fresh and contemporary decor with bright tropical shades popping from feature cushions and wall art. The higher categories boast balconies or terraces, with indoor entertaining space as well as private infinity or plunge pools, some with direct beach access. Each room comes with en suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and Wi-Fi as standard.

Location

With its white stretch of beach and protective surrounding palm trees, The Ocean Club feels very secluded, but is just a 20-minute drive from the vibrant city of Nassau. Here you can explore the myriad restaurants and bars, heritage sites and the traditional open-air Straw Market, delving into the handwoven trinkets and souvenirs.

Food and drink

Guests can choose from multiple dining options at The Ocean Club, the stand out of which is perhaps DUNE, where Michelin-starred Jean-Georges Vongerichten services an imaginative fusion of French-Asian cuisine with a seafood twist and splash of Bahamian spice. At the pool-side Ocean restaurant, diners sit perched above the Atlantic and just steps from the beach, feasting on fresh grilled fare in a more casual setting. While at the DUNE Bar, Bahamian cocktails and a menu of light and casual cuisine can ease patrons with the soft sounds of live music and serene ocean views.

Families

Families are welcomed here, and specifically catered for with the hotel’s children’s programs, which change daily and are inspired by a theme focused on the treasures of The Bahamas. Children can enjoy games, art projects and competitive sports, or simply venture out on the family-friendly excursions around the island arranged through the hotel.

Facilities and activities

Whether guests want to slow down and relax or enjoy some physical challenges, The Ocean Club has a variety of facilities on hand. In addition to the beach — somewhat known for its location where Daniel Craig took his swim in the James Bond movie Casino Royale — are three swimming pools (a family pool, the Versailles pool which is for adults only, and the ocean pool sat aside the stretch of sand), complimentary paddle boards and yoga classes, tennis courts, an 18-hole golf course and a gym. For a spot of downtime, there's an on-site boutique shop that’s brimming with exclusive designer collections or take refuge in one of the eight villas that make up the Balinese-style spa, which offers massages, relaxation experiences and beauty treatments.

Local excursions

Day trips and excursions can be planned and booked direct through the hotel, as well as simple transfers to nearby sites of interest.
