After an early breakfast you will begin your walk into Tanjung Datu National Park. This walk will take around two hours and although it is not a particularly difficult walk, the terrain is undulating and the trail rarely walked — making it a bit of an adventure. As you leave the village behind and pass the boundaries of the park you will skirt along one of the most beautiful stretch of coastline in Sarawak. If you do not wish to walk you can take the boat in about 20 minutes.
Once you reach the park Headquarters you will have to register and can have a look around the HQ and beach where they have a small turtle hatchery for the few turtles that lay their eggs on the shores of the national park in the right season.
There are a number of trails of various trails and you can choose how you would like to spend your afternoon. You may wish to walk through the rainforest toward Kalimantan and back along the stunning beach, or there might be a rare Rafflesia flowering on one of the trails that is worth hiking to see, or you may wish to climb to short but steep trail to the viewpoint. Alternatively you may just wish to relax on the pristine beaches where you are likely to be the only people, apart from your guide and a few monkeys for miles.
This afternoon you will be collected by your boatman and taken back to Kampong Melano for a final night with your host family.
