Fazenda Catucaba

This beautiful restored Fazenda (farmstead) comes complete with the cellar where the slaves used to sleep; it is now the reception area.

The building dates back from the slave times of the 1850s and has been lovingly restored to incorporate many original features. One family bedroom is inside the main house and the remaining nine bedrooms are dotted nearby in comfortable, newly built "casas", all with original features. Beautiful wooden floors are sourced from old houses in nearby Minas Gerais state in Brazil; antiques and art within Brazil and Europe. Three rooms are located in each casa allowing families to stay close together.

The two suites offer huge marble baths and separate shower as well as fireplace and larger living space in the bedroom. Surrounded by mature trees and painted in the traditional whitewash with blue windows, the location is the epitome of relaxation and calm beauty. Food is sourced locally and made fresh on the premises; there is no choice but dietary requirements can be catered for, if notified in advance. A library offers DVDs and a wealth of books including information on the history of the area.
